Dr. Taiwo Adetoun Akinde was born at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, to Mr. Gabriel Coker Olorunfunmi Okusanya (an Advocate and Notary Public) and Mrs. Charlotte Adefolake Okusanya (a Teacher and later Trader), both of blessed memories.
Dr. Akinde had her primary education at Emmanuel Anglican Primary School, Italupe, Ijebu-Ode, between 1976 and 1982. She started her secondary education at Oodua Comprehensive High School, Imooru, Ijebu-Ode in 1983 and completed it at Estate Grammar School, Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos by June, 1987.
Dr. Akinde was admitted into the Bachelor degree in Economics programme of the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, in the 1989/1990 academic session and graduated in April 1994. She proceeded to Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri, for a Masters degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) and graduated at the top of her class in 2007. In her further pursuit of knowledge, she obtained a Ph.D. degree in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Ibadan by September 2017.
After the compulsory National Youth Service in Amaifeke, Orlu, Imo State in 1995, she spent the next five years in private companies serving in roles such as Operation Officer, Marketing Officer and Research, Planning and Development Officer.
In a twist of fate, by August 2001, she was employed as a Graduate Assistant by the Library of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) where she was later upgraded to the position of an Assistant Librarian after she obtained a Master degree.
In search of better opportunity, by February 2008, she accepted the position of Librarian II offered by the Kenneth Dike Library (KDL), University of Ibadan, Ibadan, where she later rose to the position of Principal Librarian by October 2020.
Dr. Taiwo Adetoun Akinde worked in the Cataloguing and ICT Sections of FUTO Library and the Cataloguing Section of the Kenneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan before she was appointed as the Faculty Librarian of the Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan on the 19th of January, 2016 — a position she held until 23rd of November 2021 when she left the service of the University of Ibadan to take the position of Deputy University Librarian and Acting University Librarian of Anchor University Lagos.
A member of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) since 2001, Dr. Taiwo Akinde was certified as a Chartered Librarian by the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria since 2011.

Dr. Akinde has authored and/or co-authored many articles published in refereed, peer-reviewed local and international journals and book chapters. She has attended conferences, seminars, and workshops in recent times.

Dr. Mrs. Akinde is happily married to Engr. Dr. Pastor Olusola Akinde, and the marriage is blessed with children.
To the glory of God, on the 12th of May, 2025, Dr. Mrs. Taiwo Adetoun Akinde was appointed as the second substantive University Librarian of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State, Nigeria.
